Butter Box

Be honest

Are you happy with how the butter spreads on your bread?

The problem

I’ve noticed that butter has two bad homes. The fridge, where it turns rock-hard and tears your bread. Or the counter, where it goes soft and loses its freshness. The French solved this long ago with the butter bell, which seals butter under water. But it’s round, so you have to scoop the butter out of its wrapper and press it into the cup by hand. Every time. First you wait for it to soften, then it gets messy, and your fingers end up covered in butter. And most bells look like they belong in a farmhouse, not on a modern kitchen counter.

My idea

A butter box shaped like the butter itself. A rectangular keeper that takes a standard 250 g block exactly as it comes: unwrap, drop it in, done. And since it lives on the counter every day, it had to be good-looking enough to earn its spot there, an object you’d leave out even if it were empty.

How it works

Pour a little water into the base and set the butter inside. The water seals it off from the air, so it stays fresh and soft enough to spread, right on the table instead of in the fridge. Change the water every few days and that’s it.

Would you use it?

This one’s still on the drawing board. Rate it and tell me what you think.

If enough of you want it, we’ll make it. :)
