FAQ

Don't the hangers get dirty quickly, since they are made of rope?
The material of our Rope Hangers (PP rope) is sweat and dirt resistant. In any case, you can easily clean them with a damp cloth, even the white ones.

Do the hangers bend?
Not during normal use, they have a very strong steel core. If the load is 7 kilos or less, you have nothing to worry about.

How big is the opening of the hook?
49 mm, but it is recommended not to use a clothes rail with a diameter of more than 4cm, so that the hangers can still be hung and unhung easily.

Can the Hook turn?
No, the hook of the hanger is fixed and looks in the same direction as the hanger itself.

How are the hangers packed?
Our hangers are packaged in sets of 3, with every 3 hangers wrapped together. Single hangers are, well, single, so they come 'naked' so to speak.

How many hangers do you actually need?
That depends on the size of your closet (or dressing room) and what you’re hanging. T-shirts take up way less space than jackets or coats, for example.
As a general rule:
- A 1-meter clothes rail fits around 20–30 hangers
- An IKEA PAX wardrobe (75 cm wide)? We recommend about 25 hangers for a perfect fit.

Is the price for one clothes hanger or a set of three?

The price is per single hanger. Quantity discounts apply automatically from 3 hangers upward — the more you add, the lower the price per piece. You'll see the discount reflected at checkout.

Can I order a mixed set of hangers in different colors?

Yes. Just add whichever colors and quantities you want to your cart — the quantity discount applies to the combined total regardless of color mix.

Do rope hangers leave shoulder marks or pressure marks on delicate clothes?

No — and this is one of the things that sets them apart. The wide, rounded shape of a rope coat hanger distributes weight evenly across the shoulder, so even fine fabrics like silk, cashmere and linen hang without distortion. No pressure points, no shoulder bumps.

Are these non-slip clothes hangers? Will my clothes slide off?

They grip well enough that clothes stay put, but not so aggressively that getting them on and off becomes a chore. It's a deliberate middle ground — more secure than a bare plastic or wooden hanger, easier to use than velvet or rubber. Clothes hang where you put them, and come off without a fight.

Do designer rope hangers scratch the wardrobe rail?

Not at all. The rope wrapping means the hook glides over your rail without leaving any marks. They're also completely silent — no clatter when you're searching through your wardrobe. For what it's worth, they're used in private jets and superyachts precisely for this reason — when the materials inside a closet are expensive, scratching is not an option.

Can I hang damp clothes or laundry directly on these hangers?

Yes. The PP rope is waterproof and won't absorb moisture, so hanging freshly washed clothes straight from the machine is no problem. The rope won't shrink, warp or stain.

Will the color of the rope transfer onto my clothes — even with sweat?

No. The coloring of PP rope is schweißecht — colorfast even against sweat. Perspiration can dissolve the dyes used in lesser materials, but not here. The color stays in the rope, not on your clothes. This is worth knowing if you're hanging workout gear, shirts worn in summer heat, or anything that tends to come off a hanger damp.

Can the hook opening be stretched to fit a wider clothes rail?

The standard clothes rail diameter is 3cm, and our hook opening sits at 49mm to give easy movement on a standard rail. We'd rather not encourage stretching the hook — it puts stress on the wire core and changes the geometry. If your rail is significantly thicker than standard, get in touch before ordering.

Can the hook rotate 90 degrees?

No — the hook is fixed. The steel core inside makes this a one-way affair: if you were to force a rotation, you could do it once, but going back and forth will weaken the wire. We don't offer this and wouldn't recommend it. Consider it a last resort, at your own discretion.

How much weight can a rope coat hanger hold?

Up to 7kg per hanger. A very heavy winter coat runs around 4kg, so you have plenty of headroom for everyday use.

What are rope coat hangers made of?

A galvanized carbon steel core wrapped in PP (polypropylene) rope, finished with aluminium end caps. The rope is sweat-resistant, UV-resistant and dirt-resistant. All components are separate — not permanently fused — which matters at end of life.

Are these eco-friendly clothes hangers?

More so than most alternatives. PP (polypropylene) is one of the most widely recyclable plastics, and because the components — rope, steel core, aluminium caps — are not permanently bonded to each other, they can be separated for recycling rather than going to landfill as a composite. Beyond materials, they're made by hand in a supported-employment workshop near Berlin, keeping production local and the supply chain short.

How do I clean rope coat hangers?

A damp cloth is all you need. PP rope doesn't absorb dirt or stains, so a quick wipe brings them back to looking new. Even the white ones.

Do these minimalist clothes hangers come in different colors?

They come in a range of colors — think Black for a minimalist wardrobe, Sand for Japandi or Scandinavian interiors, Navy for something more classic, Yellow if you want to make a statement. We occasionally add new colors, retire old ones, and sometimes release limited special editions, so what's available evolves. Check the product page for the current lineup.

How many hangers do I need for my wardrobe?

A 1-metre rail holds around 20–30 hangers depending on what you're hanging. For an IKEA PAX at 75cm wide, around 25 is the sweet spot. T-shirts pack in tighter than coats, so it depends on your wardrobe — but 25 is a reliable starting point for a standard section.

How are the hangers packaged?

Sets of 3 come wrapped together. Single hangers arrive without packaging — naked, so to speak. If you order 4, you'll get one wrapped set of 3 plus 1 single.

Are velvet hangers and rope hangers similar? How do they compare?

Both are non-slip and gentle on clothes. The difference is longevity. Velvet wears, sheds and looks tired over time. PP rope shows no fiber or color abrasion even under heavy daily friction — they look the same after years of use as they did on day one. They're also more structured, which keeps heavier garments in shape better.

When will out-of-stock colors come back?

Can the aluminium end caps be customized or engraved with a logo?

Yes, for larger orders. We've done custom logo engraving on the aluminium caps for hospitality and retail clients. It makes sense from around 2,500 pieces. If that's in the right range for you, use the custom order option on the site or get in touch to discuss.
